it just keeps coming and coming…

By in Life, Me

My friends downstate have been hammered by snow this winter so I really shouldn’t be complaining at all. However, we are getting hit by a huge storm right now and I’m not enjoying it.

I have a precarious relationship with winter. I like the holiday season, and that’s about it. If I had the ability to contain winter weather to the month of December only I totally would! Winter doesn’t agree with my mood, my skin, my fitness, my renovating and especially not with my dog Chloe! It’s hard to go outside and go to the bathroom when you are a small dog and the snow is up to your neck!

I took up cross country skiing again several years ago as a way to find something to like about winter. It’s probably the only thing I like. Thankfully, with all of this snow, I should have plenty of time to ski. I’m also trying to get back into the gym. I’ve put on a little weight this winter and I’m trying desperately to lose it before I head to Florida later this month to visit my parents. I’m lucky we have a fitness center at the school I work at so I’m able to hit the treadmill or eliptical for at least a half hour or more every other day. I really want to start running on a regular basis so I’m trying to get myself to where I can hit the sidewalks/pavement when spring comes.

Renovating in my house has kind of ground to a halt at the moment, but I have some ideas in my head and as soon as I can flesh them out a little more I’ll be writing about them here. I started teaching an evening class two nights a week at a local university for their education department. I basically teach prospective art teachers how to teach art. This is my third year doing it and I really enjoy it but it takes up a lot of my winter time and makes for some long days.

I hope all of you out there are safe and warm and that your 2011 is off to a great start! Here are a couple of pictures showing the view outside both my doors today!

Thank you Anna! It feels nice to be blogging again too. I think I just had to take a little time away to get myself reorganized. I know you know what that’s like. 🙂
