reunited and it feels so good…

By in Master Bedroom

After six years of living in my house my clothes and I are all together in one room again! Due to the fact that my house is almost 200 years old my closets are small. When I moved in, the dresser that goes with my bed reused to fit up my steep, narrow stairwell (that also has a 90 degree bend in it). So my clothes have been spread out in different rooms in my house until today.

My mom came over last night and helped me put together my new 8 drawer Hemnes dresser. It took us just about 3 hours! Wait, you say, 8 drawers? Yes! When I got to IKEA on Saturday I discovered that the original dresser that Anna had helped me pick out 2 years ago, the 8 drawer, was still carried by IKEA so I snatched it up! I also bought the Hemnes mirror in white. This is the first full length mirror that I have owned that is tall enough for me to see myself from head to toe in it without mounting it on the wall. Good thing too, because I don’t think my rehabbed walls would support it.

Today after work I put all of my clothes in it. It felt so good to go through my clothes, sort them, discover some things I haven’t worn in a while and throw some things out. Getting ready in the morning is going to be so much easier now!

On a side note, the elk is a bank that was given to my Grandpa Don Huckle by his father Lowen. He also gave one to my Great Uncle Everett. The red China bull belonged to my Grandma Loomis. I love having a place to display both of these where I can see them everyday.

Is it crazy that I’m kind of teary-eyed looking at this? I’m so proud of you, Adam. You’ve really taken this room to a whole new place, and it’s more than just an aesthetic change—it’s a different way of thinking about life, order, and simplicity.

    It looks great. Really. xoxo

Thank you so much! I really have been thinking about how I display things in my home, and I’ve been changing some things around and editing them from room to room. I still have a way to go, but I feel like I’m on the right track! I owe a lot to you for inspiring to get started working on my home! xoxo

It looks great.. although I love white furniture so I’m biased.
Plus that is the fantastic thing about IKEA furniture, [well one of the many great things’..] that you don’t have to worry about it fitting up the stairs.. ;o)
    Jo xx
