My friend Edd and I tried, but the dresser could not make it around the 90 degree turn in my stairs. It’s about 2 inches too wide. So, I’ll be contacting someone tomorrow to see if they can take it apart and put it back together upstairs for me. Hopefully this will be an option, if not, then I will have to buy one and bye bye awesome rug.
How about going in through an upstairs window, fully intact? Renting a crane might be cheaper than decon and then reconstruction.
Isaspacey- I don’t think my windows will open wide enough, and I don’t dare try to take one out in November (they are very old). The person who is going to look at taking it apart is a relative so there should only be a nominal fee.
This makes me think of my cousin who built a boat in his basement. Couldn't get the thing out when he was done & had to un-build it.
Good luck. Great dressers are hard to come by.
Nutty Knitter- I’ve been told by a reliable family member that my dresser should be upstairs before Christmas! I’ll keep everyone posted. I couldn’t imagine building a boat in my basement!
