almost done patching

By in Upstairs Hallway

I have been patching the upstairs hallway walls since Saturday evening and I am almost done. Thank you to Anna for suggesting MH Ready Patch because it is a dream! It goes on great and really fills in all those cracks and nail holes, and with the help of some fiberglass tape works great for patching big holes! I was even able to use it to rebuild the corner of my bedroom door! I’m hoping to have the whole hallway primed by the end of the week.

In the picture above the big white area between the door is primer, which I did last night just to see if my patches would be really visible. It’s hard to tell in photos but the walls are very textured, almost like stucco, so the patching has been a little tricky. I have been able to match it pretty well using a wet sponge to add texture to the Ready Patch. The one good thing about the textured walls is that I have virtually no sanding to do on my patches.

A friend of my father’s who is a retired electrician came over today to take notes to draw me up a diagram so I can re-run my wiring up into the attic and down through the ceilings the way it should have been done. I’m hoping to have this done by next week so I can put the final coats of paint on the hallway.

I’m afraid my bedroom is not going to be done by the time I go back to work September 2. It still needs to be drywalled, mudded and painted. But you never know, maybe the stars will align correctly and it will get done, but I am preparing myself to be doing a lot after work and on the weekends until it’s done!

  1. This is going to look so good when it’s done! I can’t wait to see it all painted (got a color picked out yet?) with the new light fixture, it is going to be an amazing change from that nasty paneling. Congrats in advance!

I think I’m going to go with Benjamin Moore’s Moonlight White and True White like in my bedroom, seeing as the hallway doesn’t get a lot of light. Thanks for the advance congrats, I need them to get me though this!
