So I decided to start off in the bedroom by doing a little exploration. I decided to see what was hidden underneath the awful shag carpet printed-linoleum. It turns out there are pretty decent looking PLANK FLOORS underneath that are dying to be painted! I want to start ripping up the carpet very soon!

THIS IS SO EXCITING!!! I am freaking out. I have to remind myself that this isn’t MY house!
Those floors are beeeeautiful. I love really WIDE planks like that, and they are in rough enough shape that you don’t need to feel badly about painting them. 🙂
Isn’t it cool to see that the floors were already painted a few times over the course of history? I’m not sure when or why Americans stopped painting wood floors, but it sure was a nicer practice than covering them with linoleum or vinyl.
I actually really like that gray-blue color on the floor in the closet. I wonder if you could do something like that on the floors — it would be stunning with pure white walls and trim!
And, uh, you saved some of that linoleum, right? For posterity?
I am going to have plenty of it to save. More pics in a few moments!
That lino is the stuff of nightmares! Lovely to see nice floorboards under it.
I like the linoleum, in a kitchy sort of way. I think you should keep a square and frame it.
