kitchen

By in Kitchen

Here is my kitchen. It is a galley style kitchen that I have not changed a thing in since I bought the house. It houses my refrigerator, stove, washing machine and a defunct water heater that acts as a microwave stand. I really want my washing machine and the defunct water heater out of there. The floor has a bad slope as well.

There is so much to work with here! It’s nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be. I can already see the transformation taking shape in my mind…

Are the cabinets on the fridge side of the room wood, and…”not wood” on the stove side?

You know I’ll be needing a floor plan for the kitchen, too. 😉

They are wood on the fridge side and not wood on the stove side. I’m glad you don’t think my kitchen is that bad, I hate it! I better start measuring.

Wait, where is your dryer?? Do you have to carry your wet laundry to some other location to dry it?

  4. Um, wow, what a kitchen! I have been renovating my place room by room but this really makes me appreciate my avocado green 70’s kitchen (at least my floors are flat)!

Is there room somewhere else in the house (a big closet somewhere or something) where you could stick the washer and dryer? That would be so nice for your kitchen!

Also, can you just paint the cabinets a nice color like those inspiration pics you have? Or does the floor slope so much you need to take them out?

I would like to re-use my cabinets but just re-paint them, but I will probably have to take them out to level the floor and put them back in and get a new counter top.

  6. Taking the cabinets out will make it easier to paint them, at least! I like your inspiration kitchen pic with the yellow doors, I can picture this room with white cabinets and blue doors, with slate-gray floors and a darker blue on the walls. I think the white would look really crisp that way.

But that’s just me, I love taking things apart and making messes of them, but I’ve never had to level a floor. Good luck! Love your blog!
